Undergraduate Studies

Welcome to the Undergraduates Studies Office (UGS).  Our team provides a variety of support services, starting from outreach activities to connect K-12 students to engineering, through recruiting freshmen and transfer students, providing academic advising to our students, offering the Cornerstone (first-year) Engineering courses and assisting students in reaching their career goals.  The Engineering Undergraduate Studies Office mission statement can be viewed here.

The Engineering Undergraduate Studies office is located in 1415 Engineering Building. Questions and concerns can be directed to the support staff.


UGS is headed by Thomas F. Wolff, Ph.D., P.E., Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and includes:


The Center / Spartan Engineering - Recruiting and K-12 Outreach
The Recruiting and K-12 Outreach team coordinates efforts to recruit students to MSU and provides outreach activities for K-12 students to develop interest in engineering.
 


Engineering Advising Center
The Advising Center provides academic advising for all engineering undergraduate students; conducts the Academic Orientation Program; certifies degree completion and athletic eligibility; and administers students records processing and enrollment functions.
 

 
Cornerstone Experience / Spartan Engineering
Provides an early design experience through EGR 100 and 102, a two-course sequence for first-year students.
 


Residential Experience / Spartan Engineering
Provides a living-learning opportunity for engineering freshmen.  In conjunction with the Cornerstone Engineering program this living and learning environment will assist you in thinking both analytically and broadly succeeding in the College of Engineering.
 


The Center / Spartan Engineering
The Career Team assists students in obtaining co-ops, internships and permanent employment, and leads the College's employer relations efforts.


Women in Engineering
The Women in Engineering program has been established to recruit and retain a diverse study body through a range of programs, in addition to providing tutorial services for all students in the college.


Diversity Programs Office
The Diversity Programs Office supports the recruitment and retention of a diverse study body through a range of programs as well as providing tutoring for all students in the college.
 

Engineering Study Abroad
The Engineering Study Abroad Office assists students with study abroad programs that educate students globally through strong partnerships between MSU and universities abroad.  Additionally, the Engineering Study Abroad Office assists faculty with development and support for study abroad programs.
