Michigan State University employs advising professionals with advanced degrees in counseling, education, university administration and related fields. The College of Engineering advisers are available to help students plan an academic program that meets their educational and professional goals and to provide them with information they need to make wise educational and personal decisions. Advisers can help students explore engineering majors and career options. They can also direct students to important campus resources for assistance with test-taking, study skills, career planning and much more.

Academic advisers are here to guide student along the way and provide valuable information to help them make good academic decisions. How should I prepare for my advising appointment?

Before visiting your adviser, you should:

• Reflect on how you are doing in your classes.
• Review the major/degree requirements for the majors that interest you.
• Think about any questions you might have about your major, the College of Engineering, or the University.
• During annual enrollment (in the spring) think about classes you might be interested in taking during the summer and next year.
